A question before you start?

Find answers to the most common questions about your EPR support with Ekovio.

01 Do I have to appoint an authorized representative in France?

Yes. If your company is established outside France and sells products subject to EPR in France, appointing an EPR representative (“mandataire REP”) is mandatory (see the legal text on Légifrance, in French). Low volumes make no difference: the obligation applies from the first unit sold.

Ekovio can take on this role in two ways: Authorized Representative (you stay in control of your declarations) or EPR Mandate (Ekovio takes care of everything).

02 Can I keep filing my declarations myself?

Yes, with the Authorized Representative plan: you keep your account with the eco-organization, you prepare and file your declarations, and you pay your eco-contributions directly. Ekovio acts as your representative and handles the related administrative formalities.

With the EPR Mandate plan, Ekovio files your declarations based on the sales data you send us.

Please note: the Textiles (TLC) and Lubricants schemes are only available with the EPR Mandate plan.

03 When am I billed?

At sign-up:

  • the membership fee, per scheme: €149.99 excl. VAT (Authorized Representative) or €199.99 excl. VAT (EPR Mandate);
  • your first declaration, paid in advance, per scheme: €99.99 excl. VAT (Authorized Representative) or €199.99 excl. VAT (EPR Mandate);
  • the security deposit, refundable, per scheme, calculated from your annual volumes;
  • with the EPR Mandate, your product qualification credit pack.

Then, for each new declaration, per scheme:

  • Authorized Representative: €99.99 excl. VAT;
  • EPR Mandate: €199.99 excl. VAT + 5% of the eco-contribution.

As your first declaration is paid at sign-up, it is not billed a second time in the following years. There is no annual subscription. The calculator gives you the exact amount for your situation.

04 How long does the contract last and how does termination work?

Your contract runs from its effective date until December 31 of the calendar year following the year of signature. For example, a contract signed in March 2026 commits you until December 31, 2027. It then renews for one calendar year at a time.

You can end it by giving at least 30 days’ notice before the end of the term.

A termination fee then applies per scheme: €49.99 excl. VAT (Authorized Representative) or €99.99 excl. VAT (EPR Mandate). Your security deposit is refunded if no amount remains due.

Depending on your situation, your contract can then be transferred to another representative or taken back under your direct management.

05 How many declarations do I have to file per year?

It depends on the scheme and on the regime that applies to your company. Many small producers only have one declaration per year.

Ekovio fees are billed per declaration: the fewer declarations you have, the less you pay.

06 How is the eco-contribution calculated?

The eco-contribution is the amount paid to the eco-organization. It is set by the eco-organization of each scheme and depends on the products you place on the French market. It is separate from Ekovio fees and is not included in the calculator’s estimate.

  • Authorized Representative: you pay it directly to the eco-organization. Ekovio fees depend neither on your revenue nor on your volumes, only on the number of declarations.
  • EPR Mandate: it goes through Ekovio, which passes it on to the eco-organization. Declaration fees include 5% of its amount.
07 Which VAT applies to my company?

All our prices are exclusive of VAT. VAT applies only to companies established in France.

The security deposit is not subject to VAT.

08 Can I change representative?

Yes. If you are already registered with an eco-organization, you keep your eco-organization, your membership, your contract number and your Unique Identifier (IDU).

Ekovio takes care of the transfer or administrative update to be appointed in place of your current representative, without recreating your registration.

09 What documents and information do I need to provide?

Everything is done online: you enter the requested information on the platform when you sign up, and we only come back to you if an additional document is needed. If you are already a member of one or more schemes, remember to enter your existing Unique Identifier (IDU) during the process.

With the EPR Mandate, you then send us your sales data so that we can file your declarations.

The timeframe depends on the scheme and the eco-organization: it generally takes 1 to 4 weeks to obtain your Unique Identifier (IDU).

10 Can Ekovio represent me in other European countries?

No. Ekovio currently operates only for EPR in France. We do not offer a plan covering several European countries, nor the appointment of representatives in other countries.

11 Can I read the mandate before I commit?

Yes. The draft contract and mandate can be viewed on the platform before any signature or payment. They set out Ekovio’s role according to the plan you choose.
